Magnum is ready to join his new family for holidays. Please let us know if you would like to give the gift of a new home to Magnum.
Magnum came to Martindale Animal Clinic one month ago and really needed our help. He was brought to us from the Lincoln County Humane Society who had found him staggering along some ones driveway.
When we first examined Magnum, we found that he was almost thirty pounds. He could hardly move his body around. He had severe diarrhea and maggots were burrowing into his skin and muscle at the base of his tail. Because maggots release poison into the animal’s body, Magnum was about 24 hours from death.
We decided we had to help Magnum as no owner could be found and he was not going to survive without medical assistance. We started his treatment by removing all of the maggots that had burrowed into his body. He was given an injection of medication that would kill any maggots that had got so far inside that we could not remove. Antibiotics were given to treat the infection that had started in his damaged muscle and skin. In order to relieve any suffering, pain medication was administered. He was gently bathed to remove the diarrhea that was caked on his bottom and down his back legs.
Magnum has made an excellent recovery. His wounds have healed. He is responding to his high protein, low calorie diet and is gradually losing weight. He is affectionate, a little shy and VERY handsome.
He has been vaccinated and neutered. If you or someone you know would be interested in adopting Magnum, please call one of our caring team members at Martindale Animal Clinic. He is waiting for you to take him home!
