Each year we offer pet parents the option of a Wellness Blood Screen when their pet is here for an annual exam.  What is a Wellness Blood Screen?

A wellness screen can detect underlying disease your pet may have including:

  • Kidney,
  • liver or thyroid disease,
  • anemia, inflammation,
  • bacterial infection,
  • parasite infection
  • or diabetes

These diseases can be chronic and may worsen gradually over time. The subtle changes seen in these conditions and an animals’ natural instinct is to hide their illness. This often means that by the time the signs of sickness are seen the disease may be in severe or end stages.

When detected early all of these conditions can be treated to extend your companions lifespan and increase their quality of life.

  • A simple blood sample can tell us so much

For dogs, testing includes:

  • Heartworm Testing, Complete Blood Count (CBC), and Mini Biochemistry

For cats, testing includes:

  • FIV and Feline Leukemia Testing, Complete Blood Count (CBC) and Mini Biochemistry

Keep an eye on the calendar. As the weather warms up, little pests like mosquitos, fleas and ticks start to emerge. Please be sure your pets have proper prevention and protection against these invaders.
