As a young girl at the dinner table I was often very curious about the things that my parents were talking about. Words like “allergen”, “anemia”, and “pathology”, were completely unknown to me at the time, but I was extremely intrigued by the intelligence of my parents and the complexity of their profession. Dr. Mcgill who took over Martindale in 1994, and Dr. Turpel who started Upper Canada Animal Hospital in 1996, not only inspired me to start my journey in becoming a veterinarian, but are also my mother and father.

In April I finished my first year of a biological sciences undergraduate program at the University of Guelph, and it only made me more excited for the years of knowledge that are to come. I feel extremely lucky and grateful that I am able to gain experience, working in such a reputable and caring clinic such as Martindale. In the Fall I will relocate to Guelph, but I will be returning next summer with an even greater tool-set with another year of schooling under my belt. I continue to learn more about the veterinary profession every day, and the respect that I have for every single one of my co-workers is profound. I know I’m the newest face at Martindale, but I look forward to meeting and connecting with all of our incredible clients and their crazy, furry children.
